Overview
Googly Eyes puts a pair of animated eyes in your macOS menu bar that track your cursor in real time. It's part desktop toy, part conversation starter — and surprisingly delightful to use every day.
The app features 17 eye styles ranging from classic procedurally-drawn googly eyes to detailed Sharingan and Rinnegan designs from the Naruto anime universe.
Key Features
- Real-time cursor tracking at ~60 FPS using Core Graphics
- 17 eye styles: Classic Googly Eyes, Sharingan variants (Itachi, Sasuke, Kakashi, Madara, and more), Mangekyo Sharingan, Rinnegan, Rinne-Sharingan, and Byakugan
- Blink animation: Eyes smoothly blink on mouse click (0.15s close/open)
- Spinning animation: Optional tomoe/pattern rotation for Sharingan styles
- Persistent preferences: Remembers your chosen style and settings between launches
- Right-click menu: Switch styles, toggle spinning, or quit — all from the menu bar
Verdict
Googly Eyes is pure fun. If you spend hours staring at your screen, you might as well have something staring back. The Sharingan styles are surprisingly well-crafted for a menu bar app.
